Time Capsule Project tells the story of international geotechnics
O Projeto Cápsula do Tempo é uma iniciativa da Associação Internacional de Mecânica dos Solos e Engenharia Geotécnica (ISSMGE) para resgatar a história de geotecnia mundial. Além disso, o projeto pretende trazer à tona a experiência coletiva dos países membro, para estimular o debate.
Time Capsule Project is an initiative of International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) to tell the story of international geotechnics. Besides, the project aims at bringing up the collective experience of the member societies and promote the debate.
A iniciativa pretende ainda reunir o passado, o presente e o futuro da engenharia geotécnica internacional em um só lugar. Além de estimular as associações de cada país a resgatar sua própria história.
The initiative intends to bring together the past, the present and the future of international geotechnical engineering in one place. In addition to encourage each society to remember its own history.
A ABMS escolheu dois grandes nomes para representar a engenharia geotécnica brasileira. O engenheiro Antônio José da Costa Nunes, que presidiu a ABMS de 1952 a 1954, foi um dos maiores engenheiros geotécnicos do Brasil e criador da ancoragem em solo. E o também engenheiro Milton Vargas, pioneiro no estudo dos solos residuais, um dos fundadores da ABMS e o primeiro presidente da entidade.
ABMS has chosen two important names to represent Brazilian geotechnical engineering. The engineer Antônio José da Costa Nunes, president of ABMS from 1952 to 1954, was one of the greatest geotechnical engineers and the first to use anchors on the ground. And the engineer Milton Vargas, pioneer in studying residual soils, one of the founders of ABMS and its first president.
